Touro Law Announces Carter DeLuca IBLT Entrepreneurship Assistance Fellow
Alexander Diamond has been selected as the 2013 Fellow
November 20, 2013Touro Law Center Dean Patricia Salkin announced the selection of third year student Alexander Diamond as the recipient of the Center for Innovation in Business, Law and Technology’s Carter DeLuca Entrepreneurship Assistance Fellow.
In his role as the Entrepreneurship Assistance Fellow, Mr. Diamond will assist a specially selected early-stage or start-up Long Island company with faculty-supervised research about relevant legal issues and best practices, in order to better enable the company to manage the risks it faces and maximize its growth potential. Additionally, he will help create and publish blog entries and other informational materials on data privacy, intellectual property and other key legal issues for the broader business community.
The Fellowship is awarded each semester to a qualified student who demonstrates an understanding of business and intellectual property law and offer previous relevant experience.
“Alexander has been selected for this prestigious honor based on his success in law school and dedication to the business community coupled with his creative energy and innovative ideas. I am confident that he will make a positive contribution to the Center as well as to the businesses that he comes in contact with over the next semester,” said Dean Patricia Salkin.
Alexander is a full-time law student who will graduate in December 2013. He received an MBA in September 2013 from Long Island University, C.W. Post Campus. He has been involved in several student organizations while holding a multitude of legal-related job experiences at law firms and government offices throughout his law school tenure.
“I was thrilled to have Carter DeLuca’s support for this semester’s fellowship,” said Jonathan Ezor, Professor of Law and Director of the Center for Innovation in Business, Law and Technology. “Alexander is a great fit for the goals of the program, and his work will be an excellent resource for the company we serve and the overall community.”
The Center for Innovation in Business, Law and Technology (IBLT) at Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center is dedicated to advancing the state of understanding about the intersection of technology, business and the law both within and beyond the law school. It does so through a growing list of courses for Touro Law Center J.D. and LL.M. students, a privacy and technology law blog, social media presences on Twitter and Facebook, continuing legal education seminars for practicing attorneys, and publications and events for the general business community. As part of its efforts, the IBLT frequently collaborates on programs and initiatives with other educational institutions, organizations and companies throughout Long Island and beyond.
Its mission is to improve the understanding of the legal issues of basic and developing technologies integral to the technology-driven business communities of manufacturing, electronic commerce, and high technology. In so doing it assists in the formation, attraction, and retention of new business and to the economic development for the region through the integrated processes of education, collaboration, outreach and research.
