Touro Law Welcomes More Than 200 Incoming First-Year J.D. Students
August 29, 2022Touro Law welcomes an incoming class of 206 first year J.D. students, including full-time, part-time and FlexTime programs.
The students come from 91 different undergraduate institutions and speak a total of 9 different languages. The class includes 47% female students and 35% minority students. Twenty-five of the students hold graduate degrees and they range in age from 20 to 54 years of age. Additionally, 90% of the students are receiving merit scholarships.
“This is an impressive group of first year students, and we wish them all the best on their journey to earning a Touro Law degree,” stated Dean Langan. “This is always an exciting time. So many of these students are following lifelong dreams to attend law school and many are the first in their family to earn a law degree. The excitement is contagious, and I can’t wait to see what these students will achieve.”
Touro Law is known for providing flexible programs to accommodate the needs of students. This year, students are enrolled in the newly restructured part-time program, which includes classes two evening during the week and on Sundays during their tenure. The FlexTime Program, a hybrid offering that combines asynchronous class sessions with in-person learning on Sundays, has grown in popularity since it was first offered in 2018. All incoming students will participate in Touro’s Court Observation Program and will have the opportunity to participate in a clinic or externship for credit prior to graduation.
Touro Law has always offered scholarship support to both incoming and current students. In the past 10 years, the law school has added more than 67 named scholarships to those scholarships awarded administratively. Alumni, law firms, corporations and friends have donated the new scholarships.
