American Legal Studies I and II
Jamie L. Ruiz, Esq., M.B.A. currently serves as the Assistant Director of the Office of Career and Professional Development (OCPD) at Touro University, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. In her role at OCPD she provides individual counseling helping students and alumni identify their interests in the legal industry, prepare resumes and other career related documents, search and obtain legal internships and post graduate employment, and develop professional networks. Ms. Ruiz is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Law Center and has taught American Legal Studies I and II, a course for graduating students focusing on early bar exam preparation.
Most recently, she served as a Legal Associate at Foundation Source helping non-profit foundations remain compliant with federal tax law. Prior to that, Ms. Ruiz worked in both litigation and transactional roles in both the public and private sectors. Her areas of practice include corporate and municipal litigation, public finance, corporate governance, and vehicle and traffic matters. Ms. Ruiz is admitted to practice law in the State of New York and the State of New Jersey. She is also admitted to the Supreme Court of the United States and the Eastern and Southern Districts of New York.
She attended Touro College, Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center where she received her Juris Doctor and served as the Articles Editor of the Touro Law Review. Ms. Ruiz obtained her Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice from the University at Albany.
She is the Owner and Founder of Matthew James Heart & Home, a self-care bath & body business and serves as the President of the Matthew J. Ruiz Memorial Foundation.
