Darren Stakey is a Partner of Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP and a practitioner in the firm’s Litigation, Real Estate and Condominium Practice Groups. Mr. Stakey has developed a reputation for structuring innovative solutions to complex legal and regulatory problems. He is admitted to practice law in New York, California, and the District of Columbia. Prior to entering private practice, he clerked at the high court of Pennsylvania, assisting in the preparation of numerous significant opinions, orders, and dispositional memoranda.
Mr. Stakey was Salutatorian of his class at Touro Law, a published member of the Law Review, and a National Quarterfinalist with the Moot Court Honors Board. He interned at the Eastern District of New York for Honorable Leonard D. Wexler and Honorable Gary R. Brown (then-Magistrate Judge), was part of the inaugural class of New York’s Pro Bono Scholars Program, and earned numerous other distinctions for superlative achievement in the study of law.
Mr. Stakey was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa at Hofstra University and worked in education, banking/lending and the private aviation industry before becoming an attorney. He is also a professional singer/songwriter and the founder of Wildwood Productions, LLC, an independent record label and production company. At Certilman Balin Adler & Hyman, LLP, Mr. Stakey founded the CBAH Associate Committee and served as its Director from 2019–2023.
Mr. Stakey is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Sound Justice Initiative, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that provides enrichment education in Suffolk County jails and creates educational pathways for employment upon re-entry. He also sits on the Search Committee for the Michael Magro Foundation, which provides resources and support for pediatric cancer patients and their families. 
Mr. Stakey has co-published articles with nationally recognized legal experts and practitioners, such as Benjamin Brafman, Esq., and Provost Patricia E. Salkin. Thomson Reuters has included Mr. Stakey on its yearly “New York Metro Super Lawyers Rising Stars” list every year since 2019. He was also named one of the “Ones to Watch in the Law” by Long Island Business News and a Pro Bono Attorney of the Year by Touro Law in 2019.
