Moot Court Victory!

Touro Law Moot Court Team Heads to The Hague to Represent the USA
We're thrilled to share that members of Touro Law's Moot Court Honors Board are headed to the international finals of the 2026 IBA International Criminal Court Moot Court Competition! The team earned their spot after competing in the regional rounds on March 7, 2026, at the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, where Touro was named one of the top five North American teams. They'll now compete at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands, this June.

This year's competitors were second-year students Elizabeth Donohue (counsel for Droganna Syrax), Jennifer Nagle (counsel for the Democratic Republic of Merine), and Sarah Otman (counsel for the Prosecution), with fellow students Samuel Briller 3L and Yessica Martinez 3L serving as coaches.

The competition required each team to submit three memorials addressing the legal issues in the fictional case Prosecutor v. Droganna Syrax — a complex scenario involving a presidential naval blockade, a children's health crisis, and questions of ICC jurisdiction, Head of State immunity, and irregular rendition. Each competitor then delivered a twenty-minute oral argument and a ten-minute rebuttal, with briefs and oral arguments each counting for 50 percent of the final score.

The results speak for themselves: Sarah Otman took home the Best Oralist Award for the prosecution argument, and both Elizabeth Donohue and Jennifer Nagle received Top Three Memorial Awards for their respective positions.
None of this would have been possible without months of hard work from our competitors and coaches.

Special thanks to Dean Myra Berman, Professor John Quinn, and Professor Allison Caffarone for their guidance and support of the competitors every step of the way.
