Assistant Professor of Law Allison Caffarone and her co-author have been selected for The Burton Foundation’s “Distinguished Legal Writing Award,” which recognizes the 20 best articles published in the past year by lawyers in the United States.
Professor Caffarone was honored for her article “Are Criminal Antitrust, ‘Klein’ Conspiracy, and Insider Trading Prosecutions All Unconstitutional? The Untenable Legal Bases of ‘Judge-Made’ Criminal Law,” which was published in the New York Law Journal’s print and electronic editions. The article was written with Nicolas Bourtin, Managing Partner of Sullivan & Cromwell’s Criminal Defense and Investigations Group. Their article is available here: “Are Criminal Antitrust, ‘Klein’ Conspiracy, and Insider Trading Prosecutions All Unconstitutional? The Untenable Legal Bases of ‘Judge- Made’ Criminal Law.”
The award winners are selected by judges and former and current law school professors from Harvard Law School, Georgetown Law Center, and Berkeley Law School, among others. The awards program will be celebrating the winners at the Library of Congress in June 2026.
This marks the second time Professor Caffarone, who teaches courses in Evidence, Criminal Law, and Transnational Criminal Law, has received the Burton Award.
