Touro Law Welcomes Sara Berman as Professor of Law and Assistant Dean for Academic Excellence and Bar Success
September 9, 2021Touro Law Center Dean Elena B. Langan is pleased to welcome Sara J. Berman to the Law Center as Professor of Law and Assistant Dean for Academic Excellence and Bar Success Programs.
“We are looking forward to having Sara join us as both a faculty member and the Assistant Dean,” stated Dean Langan. “She is a known authority on bar success and academic programs and has dedicated her career to legal education and the success of law students. We are anxious to collaborate with her for the benefit of all of our students.”
Sara Berman will direct and manage Touro Law’s Academic Excellence Program, serving students from 1L through licensure. She will design and implement programs for academic success in law school and the bar exam and teach bar readiness programs as well as other courses during her tenure. Professor Berman will also focus on creating and directing a Center for Professional Formation and Licensure at the law school. Berman stated, “I look forward to joining Touro’s diverse and supportive community, working collaboratively with students and faculty to enhance academic excellence and promote bar success.”
Most recently, Professor Berman served as the Director of Programs for Academic Success at the nonprofit AccessLex Center for Legal Education Excellence where she oversaw research and grants aimed at supporting student success nationwide. Previously, Professor Berman served on the faculties and in senior administrations at law schools in California and Florida. An early adopter of distance learning, Professor Berman also served on the faculty of the nation’s first fully online law school. Her publications focus on law student success and licensure and self-represented litigants.
