April 20, 2026Central Islip, NY – Touro Law Center Dean Elena Langan announced today the appointment of Leonard Badia as the new Assistant Dean of Career & Professional Development. Badia, a distinguished alumnus and veteran of the New York State Court System, will lead strategic career initiatives for students and alumni. He is responsible for expanding recruitment efforts across traditional and non-traditional legal markets and implementing innovative programming to prepare students for a dynamic professional landscape.
“We are looking forward to having Len return to the school in this role,” stated Dean Langan. “We are confident that his extensive professional connections and work ethic will greatly benefit our students and community. We look forward to the energy and contributions he will bring to this vital position.”
Badia joins Touro Law Center following an extensive career in law enforcement and academia. He previously served as the Commanding Officer of the Cohalan West and Security Operations Commands of the New York State Court System's Tenth Judicial District. His academic background includes serving as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Touro Law, Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice and Paralegal, Business and Accounting Departments of Suffolk County Community College, as well as an Adjunct Professor at Nassau County Community College and St. Joseph's College.
Beyond his professional and academic roles, Badia is a prominent figure in the local legal community. He has served as an Associate Justice in the Village of Islandia, a member of the Board of Directors of the Suffolk County Bar Association, and as the Managing Director of the Executive Board of the Suffolk County Bar Association’s Charity Foundation. Additionally, he was a member of the District Administrative Judge’s Committee on Efficiencies in the Court. His diverse skillset also includes holding five Police Instructor certifications and serving as a certified mediator for custody, visitation, and parent/child disputes.

Badia earned his J.D., cum laude, from Touro Law in 2007. He also holds undergraduate degrees in Economics, Management, and Business Administration from the State University of New York and St. John’s University. He is a published author, with contributions to Dialogue Magazine and The Suffolk Lawyer.
Touro Law has maintained a 90% or more employment rate for three consecutive years, with the class of 2025 achieving 91% employment rate. Graduates have secured roles across a diverse professional landscape with top-tier firms, government agencies, and private enterprises.
