Health Law II - LAWN744

3 Credits

This course is designed to examine the laws that regulate the healthcare industry in the United States. The course will guide the study of three primary areas of healthcare regulation: 1. Health insurance and reform (medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, health economics, cost/quality/access); 2. Fraud and abuse (false claims, antikickback, stark, antitrust, ERISA, etc); 3. Professional responsibility (corporate practice of medicine, labor and employment; health care organizational structure and corporate governance with fiduciary duties). This course is the half of a two part series designed to form the foundation for much of the health law curriculum. It can be taken either before or after Health Law I but the foundation is not complete until both courses are complete.
