2 CreditsThis course exposes students to the practice of Criminal Law and specifically, the use of technology and digital evidence in litigation. In studying New York criminal practice, we will analyze and discuss the application, procedure, and principles surrounding litigation in criminal courts. Emphasis will be placed on the use of digital evidence, from laying foundations to authentication thereof, students will learn how to use, defense against, analyze, and impeach witnesses on various forms of digital evidence in criminal cases and litigation. Our discussions will include social media, video compilations, overlaying evidence, evidence-based prosecutions, circumstantial evidence, cell phone extractions, search warrants and more.
