Letter from the Editor
The Touro Law Review has dedicated itself to publishing high-quality articles that foster significant legal and academic discussion since 1985. Our mission is simple: to provide a platform for suggestions and solutions benefitting the legal community and to raise the next generation of editors who are committed to legal research and scholarship. Through rigorous peer review and collaboration with esteemed scholars, we aim to elevate the discourse surrounding critical legal issues. By nurturing emerging voices in legal academia, we strive to contribute to the development of innovative legal thought and practice.
In our inaugural issue, Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Harry A. Blackmun delivered an address in which he underscored that a law review “is part of the law’s reserve of resources that are there when needed[,] . . . it is a valuable learning and writing tool, and it lends its voice to the law school experience.” Membership in the Touro Law Review stands as one of the most esteemed accomplishments students can achieve during their tenure at the Touro Law Center. Our members undergo rigorous training, equipping them for their future careers as attorneys and scholars by developing critical research skills, enhancing attention to detail, and fostering the ability to articulate their analyses clearly and logically. As Associate Justice Blackmun emphasized, “The experience . . . will prove valuable, and years from now those who participated will look back with gratitude on the opportunity to have served in this particular vineyard of the law.”
We are living in a tumultuous period in history. Despite the challenges we face, the Touro Law Review remains steadfast in its commitment to advance legal scholarship. We prioritize publishing articles that present high-quality legal arguments, regardless of the author’s background or affiliation. Each issue of the Touro Law Review undergoes an extensive editorial process, ensuring that every article and student note is meticulously reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and professionalism. We take pride in showcasing our authors’ voices, reflecting their diligent research and thoughtful, persuasive legal analysis.
As we celebrate the fortieth anniversary of our charter issue, we acknowledge that our mission is made possible by the invaluable support of our faculty advisors, the Touro administration, our dedicated authors, and, of course, our committed readers. Looking ahead to 2026, we are excited about the opportunities that await us and are committed to continuing to earn your support. On behalf of the Touro Law Review Editorial Board and staff members, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you.
Sincerely,
Brian T. Wersan
