Kash, Senior Attorney at the Drug Enforcement Administration, recently published his thirtieth article titled, “The Case for Night Vision Goggles: A Look into the Past and a Peek Into the Future” in Rutgers Journal of Law & Public Policy, Vol. 12, Issue 1. 1994 Robert Abiuso, Counsel with Sahn Ward Coschignano, PLLC in Uniondale, NY, was named a Public Interest Attorney of the Year by Touro Law Center at the 2016 Annual Goods & Services Auction and as a board member of St. John’s Residence for Boys in Rockaway Park, NY. Robert has been providing pro bono legal services through Catholic Charities, the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion, as well as other civic and charitable organizations. Using his background in real estate law and transactions, he assists family members and friends who are “underwater” on their mortgages. In addition, he provided legal counsel to help restore the Vietnam Memorial Monument in Queens. Most recently, he was named a Board Member of St. John’s Residence for Boys in Rockaway Park, NY. Keith P. Brown was honored at the 42nd Annual Advancement for Commerce, Industry & Technology Golf Outing in September. Jan Meyer, Founder and Senior Counsel of Jan Meyer and Associates, PC, spoke together with Senior Associate Noah Gradofsky at the annual convention at NASP (National Association of Subrogation Professionals) on the topic of “Recovery Opportunities in DWI Accidents,” in November, 2015. Additionally, in April 2016, Mr. Meyer and Mr. Gradofsky presented a webinar titled “Subrogation Strategies: When the Tortfeasor’s Insurer Denies Coverage.” Mr. Meyer’s web site, www.janmeyerlaw.net, was recently updated this year to provide information on the basics of liquor liability in New York and New Jersey. Additionally, there are links on the website to primers on recovery of Personal Injury Protection (PIP) in both New York and New Jersey, and the office’s periodic newsletters, which provide updates in NY and NJ law. Last March, the Law Offices of Jan Meyer & Associates, P.C. prevailed on its appeal of dismissal of an action to compel PIP arbitration (Drive New Jersey Insurance Company v. Sofield, docket number A-1989-14T4), leading the New Jersey Appellate Division to reexamine the NJ PIP statute and elaborate on the triggering event that begins the limitations period. David Sperling was recognized by Dejus Center at their annual gala for his contributions as an immigration attorney. 1995 Teresia Bost was recently recognized among 38 executive women in New Jersey by the Executive Women of New Jersey in their 2016 “Salute to the Policy Makers Awards” gala for professional achievements. She was also honored by the Washington Alumni Association of Fisk University, her undergrad alma mater, during the 2016 the Eastern Regional Conference as one of the 2016 Talented Tenth Honorees. W.E.B. Du Bois, who is probably the most renowned Fiskite, used the term “the talented tenth” to describe the likelihood of one in 10 black men becoming leaders of their race in the world, through methods such as continuing their education, writing books, or becoming directly involved in social change. Additionally, she has been appointed as an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickenson University, in Madison, NJ in the fall. She will be teaching Women in Leadership class. She is also preparing an online HIPAA course through the health sciences division of Touro College as well. Sherli S. Saed announced the addition of her husband/ partner, F. David Saed, to their new law firm Saed & Saed PC, located in Mineola, NY. The firm is a general law practice, concentrating in real estate, guardianship, trust and estate, matrimonial and family law matters. 1996 Jennifer Casey was elected Chair of the Suffolk County Planning Commission. She is a partner at the law firm of Ahmuty, Demers & McManus. Eve-Lynn Gisonni of Gisonni Law Firm, P.C. has been selected to become a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial and appellate lawyer honorary society whose membership is limited to less than one-half percent of North American lawyers, judges and scholars. Fellows are selected based on accomplishment in trial and appellate litigation and superior ethical reputation. Eve-Lynn is a sole practitioner concentrating exclusively in the fields of disability and life insurance law on behalf of insureds and beneficiaries with offices in Huntington, Syosset and Manhattan. 1997 Shari Lee Sugarman was selected as one of the 11th Assembly District’s 2016 Women of Distinction.
