"Discourage litigation. Persuade your neighbors to compromise whenever you can. Point out to them how the nominal winner is often a real loser - in fees, expenses, and waste of time. As a peacemaker the lawyer has a superior opportunity of being a good man. There will still be business enough." - Abraham Lincoln.

Welcome to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society (ADR Society) website. The purpose of the ADR Society is to enhance the education of students attending Touro Law Center by providing practical knowledge of alternative dispute resolution through discussions, role playing, networking events, and professional training. The ADR Society also organizes events to expose students to the use of skills that are alternatives to litigation, such as arbitration, negotiation and mediation. Students are given the opportunity to put the skills they acquire into practice by participating in intra-school and national level competitions sponsored by the American Bar Association.

Alternative dispute resolution is a rapidly growing field and utilizes a universal skill set that is essential to advocating your client’s interests and solving problems effectively. Thus, the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society benefits all law students, even those interested solely in traditional law practice. All students are encouraged to become members of the ADR Society and participate in its array of activities.

For upcoming news and events please be sure to add the Alternative Dispute Resolution Society to your TWEN Page on Westlaw. We look forward to seeing you at our planned events.

Best of luck this academic year!
