ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

This year’s symposium will focus on artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare. Speakers include experts in healthcare law, technology, bioethics, and policy. Their contributions will explore the rapidly evolving intersection of AI technologies and healthcare regulation.

9:45-10:30 am - Panel I: “The Current State of AI Regulation in Healthcare and Insurance - A Practical Map for Compliance”
Speakers will provide a comprehensive overview of the evolving regulatory landscape governing AI applications in healthcare and insurance. The panel will also provide a survey of the current issues in AI and health insurance with a focus on prevention of fraud, waste, and abuse.

The panel will address emerging legal challenges and the regulatory gaps that arise as AI becomes increasingly integrated into the provision of healthcare.

Vardit Ravitsky will deliver insights on the ethical and policy perspectives of AI in healthcare. She will draw upon her world-renowned expertise in bioethics, healthcare, and the application of artificial intelligence.

1:45-3:15 pm - Panel III: “AI and Devices/Biotechnology” 
This panel will examine the legal and ethical implications of AI-driven medical devices and biotechnology innovations. Speakers will discuss regulatory pathways for AI-enabled devices, safety and efficacy standards, and the unique challenges posed by machine learning applications in diagnostic tools and therapeutic technologies.

The discussion will address practical legal considerations for healthcare providers implementing AI tools in clinical settings, as well as the ethical challenges that AI tools present for practitioners and patients.
